THE MOST MINIMALIST

Adam Saroyan
found as a  most minimalist
the prism of a now ghostly fame,
this Armenian-American
in a frame of reference
now as a biographer,
as a blogger
not boasting of his own name
in a memoir's reverence
from a few lettered free verses
of a heated controversy
in his experimentation
of a better illuminated poetry
hanging out with all ethnics
of freely spirited poets
from Manhattan
in a familial pattern:
Andy Warhol, Ted Berrigan
Lou Reed,Ron Padgett
hearing the musical Fugs
the first underground
rock band
founded by unorthodox poets
into another demographic
of eccentric counter -culture
founded by Tuli Kupferberg
singer, cartoonist in literature
with anarchist,pacifist
Ed Sanders, social activist
a dramatic environmentalist,
Hippie and Beat musicologist
the editor of "Investigative Poetry"
published by "City Light"
with Ken Weaver on drums
at the Le Metro Cafe
all downing some strong coffee
taking their leads and hugs
at the swinging Sixties
Saroyan influenced
by the Dadaists
and Robert Creeley
has some of his minimal ads
in sculptural art pictures
from new fragments of idioms
from summarily recreating
parts of concrete poetry
all in a few estranged prisms
almost in a bird call of song
from a music stand
by in a unique arrangement
of words
like "eyeye" or "lighght"
in a instant of four silent
consonants accrued
in a new musical
enlightened virtuosity
for our universe
of bright luminosity.

ANDY GOLDSWORTHY

From Scotland
and working in a sand lot
the sculptor
Andy Goldsworthy
hardly sleeps in his career
yet spends hours
as a photographer
(for his inner clock
never stops)
on a heap
of a thousand cold stones
enfolded from caves
of slightly
colored flowers,
in insomniac nights
saving leaves,
mud,pine combs
snow, icicles,twigs, thorns
and twice born petals
wishing as an environmentalist
for fragments to connect
interlock and nurse
amid nocturnal fishing nets
and a hidden proof
that urban settings
are also part of culture
shaping his geometric universe
I'm loving his sculptures
"Three Cairns"
"Roof","Moonlit Path,"
in a perfect math puzzle
from a gearwheel of mesh
in rope,wire,spokes
and nuzzled bones.

THE O'KEEFFE STUDIO
(1887-1986)

Georgia O'Keeffe's studio
is soundproof
knowing the artist
is often aloof
in her underground wonder
from a showy landscape
of miracle flowers
Freudian critics feel is sexual
buoyed by their tall growing
knowing its ironical perspective
others feel is merely intellectual
in a textual call
of an eccentric force
as geometric shapes
from a coy iconic power
in a retrospective exhibition
at her later still life
from flora portraits
at the Tate.

SHE CLOSES THE DOOR

She closes the door
of the contrary
past year,not feeling
wronged but rich
in her creativity
landing in a consensus
cutting out of her memory
any loss of her art's ability
trembling in writing
by her daily diary
on the private helicopter
taking responsibility
for her own part flying
out to Catalina Island.
IN HER KALEIDOSCOPE

In her kaleidoscope
in an invisibility of fear
without elegy or liturgy
hiding by a horoscope
of hope for a new year.
THE OPEN NIGHT

The open night we face
is wild with snow outside
in a weight of the storm
but here we are
with the light of stars
out of sight
playing Chopin
on the side of the window
exiled by the fireplace
keeping warm
in the piano's shadows.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

Laundry first
then hiding in a market place
finding paintings by a poet
in context
from the face of passion
for clothes and fashion
not really fit for the dandy
next door
to disclose a Cuban cigar
and Godiva chocolate.
