PARIS IN JUNE
Watching two night children
with frisbee in hand,
quoting Rimbaud
from memory
getting into a cab for
the midnight movie
to see "The four hundred blows"
the four hundredth time
with my mind on this poem
forgetting to leave a tip
in euros off meter
a lady in dark red
leans warmly on my arm
asks me out
to a dance contest
in which we win a watch
matching for a man and woman
for this insomniac
not knowing the time
for this somnambulist walker
at my tourist exiled day.
