IMPROVISATION #20
Playing my guitar
of Mozart Variations
by Fernando Sor
wondering why
we are set loose
on a banana boat
starting out
under the stars
by Vera Cruz
in Mexico
meeting a prisoner
who unwinding speaks
to me freely
in Spanish
under the Thursday sun
and as a brother
tells me and Banna
he was set free
by my essays and poetry
who quotes a witty line
of mine about justice
and suddenly vanishes
not knowing what
he will be in for
going behind
one of the bars.
