EDWARD LEAR'S MONOLOGUE

Let's have an all clear
no one was as dear
a bard
as Edward Lear
wanted riches
without hitches
a dog
without his bitches
to be a poet
like a cricket
in the air
who showed up
in the sky at Mayfair
when you nicked
a bouquet
you bought for a friend
at the theater
on your way
from a croquet match
to the West End.
