brought me back
to a Weimarian hope
for a democrartic aeon
just as I read Musil, Bloch
and the Mann brothers
but it was not to be
or not to give up
on literature or Kultur
even after seeing Fassbinder's
long film based on Doblin's novel
at the once Marx Engels Platz,
what operatic shadows still quiver
from the woman without shadows.
