UP IN VERMONT

Up in Vermont
a poet making the holidays
relevant and taking
the time for the Lord's glory
offering a Gregorian chant
and telling the Christmas story
before the offertory is given
knowing we sing our hymns
breaking the bread
drinking the wine
even being divinely forgiven
for the Samaritan and sectarian.
