IMPROVISATION#251
D.H. LAWRENCE'S POEMS
(1885-1930)

You had the rainbow
of language
to bite on a pear
by a fountain pool
dazzling before you
by dreams of wreaths
of seaweed on the ocean
you awaken thorns
without artifice to share
in a flashing spike
from the fiery flame
of sunshine in a climax
in the last light
with your name on wood.
