waiting for the spring
or a thaw in winter
with a chorus of birds
house bound on the roof
finding a feather
out on the deck
playing cards
while listening to riffs
of Coltrane
on jazz radio
reading in my art book
about the paintings
of Juan Gris
and Toulouse Lautrec.
