IMPROVISATION #122
A WISE PATH

A wise path with a map
though frightened outdoors
by this commingled forest
of pine and dark Evergreen
camping out after a nap
through the Vermont snow
a deer lies deeply in the park
between two broken branches
where sparrows usually sing
my eyes are presently
resting in this grassy thicket
by the White Mountains
as I'm calling in a quick rescue
the deer is set free
his wanting shadows
still gesture to me
from my own still life picture
featuring this clear landscape
drawing in my canvas
as time willingly slips by
sunlight shapes the day.
