THIS IS THE HOUSE

This is the house,
look in with me
cast your eyes
at my aunt's cooking
from her French kitchen nook
with its bread and breakfast
who quickly makes us
from her recipe bench
fresh crepes, pancakes
with cups of apple cider
and spinach croissants
up here in Vermont
as her guests plan
to cross country ski
and to take me
up to the Green Mountains.
