IMPROVISATION#218
SOL LE WITT
(1928-2007)

When the ''Original Theater"
put on my plays at M.I.T.
I discovered by chance
 Sol Le Witt
in  his "Bars of Colors
  Drawing 254"
spoke to me
of straight and broken lines
in its building and floor
eyeing a new effectual
  and conceptual artist
whom we cannot ignore
his late viewing    towers,
 hidden enigmatic  pyramids
    mediums of magnetic
at hours of wishful lithographs
 for a Jewish series
  at an Ark of learning
and at discerning
   dark echoes
  in Spoleto, Italy
with an influence
of his encounter with frescoes
 from rooms at Florence
  with Giotto and Masaccio
you took your  free art shows
 even doing your part
of paintings in your stance
 against war
and offered a colorful view
as we glance  at the costumes
 for Lucinda's
       Dance Company.
