IMPROVISATION # 217
STORM WATCH INTERVIEW
Picture this
a fellow shopper
says he/ she only watches
to channels
one with weather
another with food,
says it's a feather in a cap
between sleep
at night
and waking up
from a nap
here at first light
no news is best,
it doesn't second guess me
it's mostly lies on t.v. or radio
with headlines for the worst
it's all for power's sake
giving me a head ache
here I am free
in my own calling
as a poet in any mood
sharing my words to relax
in a sound proof studio
playing my alto sax;
be my guest, have a blast
in the city or country
which will preserve
the present from the past,
choose only the food
from a refrigerated can
from what you have got
to bring (if you are able)
a creative plate for table
with a delightful original
menu of choice to eat:
animal, meat or vegetable
that only you could create
with what will preserve
in your taste buds,
something like chicken
will hit the spot
as you chew your cud
and have a light beer
or red wine to share
and if you try to bake
choose a chocolate cake,
for desert, flirt
or listen to the forecast
watch and catch the stars
before you knot off
you are already in bed,
put on the Philharmonic
with some classical music
and sway to your solo
take a shut-in chance
to push a button on your radio
with any budding romance
by arranging
the sheets on the piano
to change your mood
(with Beethoven
as in the German dance
no. 10)
if and when
you take my advice
think twice,
it's not for the multitude.
